Help My Army Veteran Father's Home
Hi! My name is Kelsie Grigg and this is my dad, Donald Thacker. He is a retired firefighter and army veteran. He is in need of his 1940's childhood home to be repaired because the living conditions are detrimentally affecting his health. He has had 5 heart attacks, 2 strokes, and suffers from heart disease, and the house isn't helping at all.
The house has chipped lead paint, two prong ungrounded outlets, no central heating or air, mildewed and molded drywall and paint, a hole in the roof from a tree falling, outdated appliances that do not work, bugs, cobwebs/spiderwebs, and overall this is not a house I want my 69 year old father to be living in. These conditions are unacceptable for him to be living in with his heart conditions and he is too old and weak to do something about it so I have made it my duty (as his 19 year old daughter) to try and fix up his childhood house. Because of his issues, he is unable to try and find workers to come out and fix the house; he doesn't know how to work the internet in order to find people. Hopefully we will be able to help him soon with your help!
He is heart broken to try and leave this house behind as it is the house that he grew up in and had a life in. His mother and father (my grandparents) are no longer around due to health issues that were escalated due to the state of this home. I don't want my dad getting anymore sicker because of this house. I want him to be around to see me graduate college and have a family of my own and I am scared that this house will not let him do those things.
Please help me help and fix up this house for him. Anything and any amount will help. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my dad. I really appreciate it.
