Coye’s Kidney Transplant

Hello, my name is Dinorah Esparza, oldest sister of Gumaro -Coye- Alejandro Esparza Rios. Our beloved Coye is a survivor of a catastrophic accident that almost ended his life about 15 years ago when on his way to work. He was sleeping as a passenger in a truck, and the driver (coworker of his) fell asleep at the wheel, causing them to roll roughly 700 ft over a cliff.

For many years he went on with his life trying to live a normal life despite the disabilities caused by his accident. In 2012 he began facing another challenge , he started having kidney complications. The doctors believed it was due to the many anticonvulsants he was administered during the time they were trying to save his life.

Ever since, things have been getting more and more complicated for him. Over the last 3 months he has had to start getting hemodialysis treatments 3 days a week. Sadly, his health continues to deteriorate and his heart is now working 30% more than normal.

After countless tests and attempts to find a donor, we have finally received the news that one of our sisters is compatible to donate a kidney! We are hopeful that this will save his life, however, this is a very costly expense that we all as a family were not prepared for.
