Cowboy builder has left family home uninhabitable

It’s hard to imagine someone could take advantage of a single mum to his own financial gain, a local builder stole £10,000 of money from a single mother with two toddlers and a teenager, leaving the job after 4 days. He told series of lies then admitted he had spent her money and couldn’t complete the work, only to leave the job at demolition stage and take almost all of the quoted amount of monies by pressuring the her with threats of leaving the job incomplete and calling her through the night demanding money.

 

He left her house dangerous with no bathroom, all 3 bedrooms in a state, no walls, live wires everywhere, holes in the floor and no doors or door frames.

I’m asking for help from the community because my friend has been through so much, her son who is a miracle baby has a brain injury as she nearly lost him when he was born. She lost her mother, grandad and her husband left all during the pandemic. Now she is left to sort this mess, paying two sets of bills as she cannot move into her family home.

 

We know now this cowboy builder has done this previously through different companies, to number of families, taking money and not working, but he gets away with it because he folds the company then opens another in a different name. The worst is that he will continue to do this, he is still working, not showing remorse or responsibility for what he has done.

 

For anything you can donate to help get this family the home they deserve we would be so grateful, thank you so much. We are working tirelessly watching you tube videos to fix the mess he caused, trying to keep costs minimal. This means she has to sacrifice carpets, electrical rewiring, making the home safe and redoing the garden to level out the 4ft drop for the children. If anyone is local to Gateshead and may not be in a position to donate but could maybe help us in the house, we would equally be so grateful for anything.
