COVID-support for Burmese migrants in Koh Tao
Donation protected
Resistance and protests continue across Myanmar where 840 civilians have lost their lives, 4400 are detained and more than 50,000 people have been displaced from their homes since the coup 4 months ago (mohingamatters.com). Many have lost their jobs and are dependent on family members that work in Thailand to send money. However, many Burmese migrants in Thailand, particularly in the tourism industry, have lost their jobs during COVID and struggle themselves to make ends meet. In Koh Tao, for instance, the Burmese migrant community are under severe stress as they struggle to support themselves here and their families in Myanmar. I am therefore asking you to support the Burmese migrant community in Koh Tao. Your donations will be used for food packages (rice, noodles, oil, vegetables) and will make an immense difference during this time of uncertainty.
