COVID19 Relief - Ventura County Food Share
I'm raising money to benefit the Food Share of Ventura County , and any donation will help make an impact. I believe this fundraising will be defined as a success through providing members of the Ventura County community with meals to alleviate individual or family financial worries during the COVID19 pandemic.
A donation of $10 provides 30 meals to the Food Share for distribution to the communtiy while the overall goal of this fundraiser would be to raise $3,350.00 for a total of 10,050 meals!
As a former member of the student body at multiple Ventura County community colleges, I am indebted to the friends, family, and mentors from the Ventura County community whom nurtured me to pursue my academic interests. Through the actions of these profound (early) influences in my life, I knew I was supported and being taken care of by my own Ventura County "Family" no matter what challenges laid ahead of me. The community of people/mentors I have had the opportunity to meet and learn from through my academic endeavors have been life changing and this started in Ventura County and its' community college system. I believe I can pay the support I have received forward through fundraising and providing meals to support the in-need members of our community.
Ventura County community colleges are attended by residents of all ages and of various financial/family backgrounds. I believe there is no difference between myself and anyone currently attending or wishing to attend Ventura, Moorpark, or Oxnard college besides one thing - Time. I happen to be on "this side" of the junior college experience when the coin of Time was flipped due to the COVID19 pandemic. Although current students are still able to remotely learn during this time, covering the expense of classes now or moving forward may not be easy for all. To this end, I would hope that at least in-part, our donations/meals would be received by individuals of the community whom still desire to make the choice of pursuing higher education through a Ventura County community college now or once the pandemic has been effectively mitigated. Schooling is not always a paramount measure of success to people in this life yet education has impacted me, therefore it has a special place in my heart. Additionally, donating with this intent hopefully will prevent someone from having to make a difficult decision between spending their available funds on meals to simply keep them/their family alive or on self-betterment.
Donating to the Food Share of Ventura County will allow me to serendipitously give back to the community and system that fostered my individual journey to be in "good hands" during this COVID19 pandemic. My inspiration for giving back has also been undoubedtly influenced by the benevolent nature of the friends and colleagues I am blessed to have in the research laboratory I am a current member of at the University of Southern California (USC).
Thank you in advance for any and all donations to the Food Share of Ventura County.
Stay safe and healthy everyone!
Best,
Anthony (TJ) Cabebe
