COVID-19 Relief Fund for My Family in Kenya

My name is Francis Juma and this fundraiser is for my family and I. I'm from Nairobi, Kenya. I come from a family of four siblings in which I am the youngest. I attended Choate Rosemary Hall for four years, and graduated in 2019. Ever since covid19 struck early this year, challenges arose and it's been rough on my family's end financially. My father retired about two years ago, leaving my mom to take the role as breadwinner of our family since she still works. Seeing her always trying her best to pay bills and buy groceries with the little she earns really touched me. Since late March this year, I tried my very best to look for a part time job so as to assist with paying the bills. My elder brother also did the same. However, our efforts in search for a job bore no fruits because at the time, the Kenyan government had placed curfew and restrictions in certain cities, especially those that had an increasing number of covid19 cases. Nairobi happened to be one of those cities. This led to a decrease in the number of employment opportunities across the country. Moreover, it's hard to find a part time job as a student unless you've graduated and have certificates to verify you're qualified. My father at some point had got a part time job at a community pool but it was closed because of covid19, and it hasn't been opened to date because the pool management is adhering to covid19 rules and regulations. Having been raised by these two incredible parents and seeing them always trying to provide the best for our family is truly an indicative that they're a blessing. In addition to this, it goes to show how much our parents sacrifice to provide for us. During this challenging times, my family chose to dwell in possibility. Hope is important because it makes the present moment less difficult to bear. Having hope helps me believe that tomorrow will be better. I'd therefore like to help them by reaching out to the community of friends I've made over the past years, seeking for assistance. This fund will aid in sorting out bills and obtaining basic necessities such as groceries. My family will highly appreciate the financial assistance that will receive!
