From February to April 2021, I will be hosting a remote hygiene kit donation drive through my non-profit organization, Pencils for Peace Colorado. Our mission for this drive is to provide orphans in Kabul with easy accessible hygiene products. All donations will be used to make “COVID-19 Hygiene Kits” that I will personally deliver to Kabul in May.
These hygiene kits will include:
- Toothbrush + Toothpaste
- Comb
- Soap
- Floss
- Feminine Products
- Deodorant
- Wipes/Tissue
- Face Masks
- Shampoo + Conditioner
- Shaving Products
A study published by UNICEF labels Afghanistan as the “worst place to be born in the world.” Afghan children are subject to extreme poverty and violence on a daily basis. Obtaining basic necessities (masks, soap, toothbrushes, etc.) is often very difficult and in some cases impossible.
Living in the United States, especially through a pandemic, has made me realize how truly blessed we are and how easy it is for most people to access basic necessities.
Hygiene kits may seem like a small contribution, but with our efforts together, we will be one step closer to minimizing health disparities in Afghanistan.
