Boston COVID-19 Financial Solidarity Fund

At the start of the pandemic I launched a resource to support individuals and families in Boston financially impacted by COVID-19. The goal has been to facilitate a direct exchange of funds from those with uninterrupted income or capacity to give, to those in need of support. In just a few months we were able to redistribute $7,585.00 to help with rent, utilities, groceries and other basic necessities. This effort has catalyzed connections for so many needing emergency support since that time; but, as the pandemic persists, so must our mutual aid efforts.

This effort will raise funds to be redistributed equitably across all expressed need. There are requests from parents needing to support their children, caregivers supporting sick family members, first-generation students struggling to find a job in this economy and high-risk individuals unable to work essential jobs in this environment. As the eviction moratorium concludes and community members continue to struggle with ongoing financial distress during the pandemic, it is more important than ever that we come together to support one another.
I am immensely grateful for every single donation that has come through to meet the requests made for support, and I am so energized by the ways in which we have come together to demonstrate what collective care looks in this moment. Thank you for sharing widely and giving in any amount to meet our goal, so that we may continue to build faith in people power fueled by radical, generative love.
