COVID Relief Art Auction Project Fund

Donation protected
“Spread Arts: The Pandemic Auction!” is a project formed by a group of emerging arts managers from the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC). We would like your support to launch our project that will help 50 Toronto families in need AND raise $2,000+  for a COVID-19 relief cause with East Scarborough Storefront.

Why us?
We are a group of dedicated arts management students from UTSC. In times of COVID, we want to spread out our arms to help our community by practicing what we have learned.

We know our project cannot compare to big and established charities that can make an enormous impact. But we still want to do it, no matter how ‘small’ the change it might be. We believe a change is a good change when children receive a pack of colour pens their parents can’t buy, and it makes their day full of doodles and dreams; We believe a change is a good change when a single working mother receives an extra pack of masks from us so she won’t have to stress about getting them for another month.

Let us make the change. You are helping not only the project but fueling a group of aspiring arts managers to create more positive changes tomorrow.

Your donation and support for launching this project mean that:

-We will have funds to compensate the participating artists.

-We will be able to host the online auction platform.

- We can promote our art auction event effectively.

- We can afford to coordinate the logistics of artwork and care packages delivery.

- You are bridging the gap of COVID-19 relief support.

-You support this group of aspiring arts managers.

How does the project work?
Our 8-days online silent auction will present a range of artworks, arts experiences from emerging local artists from the GTA. Arts Supporters may bid on the works. Our goal for the art auction is to raise $3,000. Proceeds from the auction will contribute to two parts:

1) making 50 care packages with health products such as masks and sanitizers & art supplies/ musical instruments/ online art classes

2) remaining proceeds (at least $2,000)going to East Scarborough Storefront

We will use the arts to spread care and lift our neighbours.

Did you know that HALF of Toronto COVID cases involve people living below the low-income line? And over 80% of the cases involve racialized Torontonians? Race and income level have become the social determinants of who gets sick and who stays healthy — we know this is problematic. To address this injustice, we as emerging arts manager wants to engage with local artists and arts supporter to form a momentum; to make a change. We would like to bridge the gap of COVID-19 relief, because we believe the arts is also a necessity for Toronto families, along with daily and health necessities. Arts connects us together, it lets us release emotions, and helps us go through the hard times.

Thank you!
