COVID-19K | Feeding America

Please join me in running or walking 19 kilometers (over the course of however many hours, days, or weeks you like) to raise awareness and ultimately donations for Feeding America. You can read more about Feeding America, its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and how it provides more than 4.2 billion meals to people facing hunger each year as the largest provider of charitable food assistance in The United States, at www.feedingamerica.org

Many Americans who find themselves suddenly out of work need help putting food on the table. Many more will need help soon.  According to the Federal Reserve, about 40% of Americans would struggle to cover an unexpected expense of just $400. Obviously, this hypothetical expense does not come close to equating with the unexpected loss of one’s entire income that has become the reality for people all across America.

Every $1 helps provide at least 10 meals through the Feeding America network of food banks. In other words, you can make a real difference for a small cost. That means even a donation of $1.90 will provide 19 meals! Our goal of $19K would provide 190,000 meals.

I have kicked things off by running a 19K and donating $10 for every kilometer ($190 = 1,900 meals).
