Couth Buzzard Summer Solstice Jazz Festival

Get ready for The Greenwood Solstice Jazz Festival – June 20-22, 2025, presented by Kenny Mandell and the Couth Buzzard Bookstore. This exciting weekend of music will feature 12 different performances from Swing to the Avant-garde – or as the Art Ensemble of Chicago used to say: "From the Ancient to the Future” (!)

At the Couth, Kenny has been leading ensembles and jam sessions (& even percussion hours) for over 15 years and this will be another chance to exhibit all the neglected talents lurking in our neighborhoods!

Money raised for this event will go toward the creation and implementation of the festival and provide a stipend for the performers. Greenwood businesses and those who frequent Couth Buzzard are encouraged to support this gift to the community. Donations of over $100 will receive two all events festival passes for the three day duration. General admission to each event will be both by suggested donation and on a pay-as-you-can basis.

Kenny Mandell: "This will be the fifth Jazz Festival that I have produced at the Couth buzzard bookstore. It has been 5 long years since the pandemic shut down this event. My intention is to present some of the more creative and original Jazz groups in the Seattle area. The goal is to make the festival as inclusive as possible - representing diverse ethnic groups and genders. At this moment in history, we need more community and cooperation in our collective musical world."
