Countryside Elementary Gaga-Ball Eagle Project

Hi, my name is Anthony Lumetta. I am a Sophomore at Blue Valley West and working towards the rank of an Eagle Scout. I am building a gaga ball pit for Countryside Elementary in Olathe to give the students a fun game to play while enjoying the outdoors at recess.

Gaga is a fast-paced, high-energy sport played in an octagonal pit. The more players, the better! Dubbed a kinder, gentler version of dodgeball, the game is played with a soft foam ball and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and jumping, while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the knees. Players need to keep moving to avoid getting hit by the ball. Fun and easy, everyone gets a serious workout.

Your donations will help fund the purchase of materials and the construction of the Gaga pit. The pit will be octagon-shaped, and I would like to use composite lumber in hopes that it will last for many years. Any extra donations will go towards an ADA gate to allow access for disabled players and easy maintenance, some additional safety railing protectors, balls and rubber flooring.
