Hello!

My name is Sofia Nicholas, I am fundraising for the opportunity to go Guatemala with the Hair Aid international project to teach hair cutting skills to underdeveloped communities!

Myself, along with an amazing coworker Rena, and two students from Georgian College, are aiming to each raise $4000 to help cover the cost of joining the program, our flights and stay. As well as translators, supplies, tools and hair kits for the members of the communities. Also anymore funds they (us) can raise for the cause to keep running. They are an Australian company that started in 2010. They have helped the communities by teaching our skilled trade, so the locals can then go and open their own businesses and provide for their families. To this date Hair Aid has taught 5500+ people.

My love of hair has been with me from a little girl, and 19 years in I still feel the same. Teaching then became a new goal and I love it just as much!! Although, what surpasses both, is my love for people and community!

Over my years I have volunteered at countless fundraisers, donated my time and services at local events, as recently as this month for my son's musical theater group took the stage! I've provided gift baskets of products, helped some clients who were on hard times, traveled to houses during covid to provide haircuts in garages and backyards! I have even sat on the floor many times to cut little ones hair that couldn't sit on my chair.

My love for people is why I'll do this work forever!

I am hopeful that I could have any amount of support come my way, to ensure I make it to Guatemala so I can spread my love of hair and teaching to the locals!

The amount is set at 5000 so any extras raised could be split amongst the Georgian group if some can't make their goal.
