Couch to (forty)5k! A London Marathon challenge!
Hi everyone! Anyone who knows me will know that I am not athletic, and certainly not a runner. Despite completing a half marathon in 2019, I have run a grand total of 21 miles in 3 years since that race and the start of this year... I realised I can't do anything without a target to aim for, so applied for and managed to bag a place in this year's LONDON MARATHON! 26.2 miles, a smidgen off 45km...
This is a challenge that I haven't told many people about as I wasn't sure I was even able to complete it, but as we get close to the event on the 23rd of April 2023 I wanted to use this opportunity to raise some money for a great cause. If I can get 100 supporters to each donate £2.62 then I'll hit my £262 target (£2.62 to match the 26.2 miles for anyone wondering!)
***UPDATE*** You wonderful people have already smashed past £262, and then past my second target of £421 (for 42.1km distance) so the target has been updated AGAIN already, less than 24 hours into fundraising starting. Amazing! ***UPDATE***
***UPDATE*** after two days you wonderful people have smashed the new target! Thank you! Let’s see if we can get to four figures - £1000! ***UPDATE***
If anyone wants to donate more then please feel free! Even if you're not able to financially support this, any words of encouragement, advice or good vibes will definitely help!
I'm raising money to benefit East Kilbride & District Dementia Carers Group, and any donation will help make an impact. Some of you will know that my dad was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia in 2017, and as his condition has progressed he has benefitted from the support from this group. He loves his days with the team, and the company and fun he has at the centre are so valuable to him and those that love him.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to me. It costs approximately £150,000 per year to operate their service. Of the £150,000 it takes to keep the service going, around one-third of that is through fundraising activities and donations.

Daycare means so many different things to different people. For us, it is as broad as it needs to be to allow us to engage with individuals in a way that is meaningful and personal to them.
