Hi everyone, it’s Chris and Martin here!
We are taking on one of the UK’s toughest endurance events — the National 24 Hour Three Peaks Challenge — on 31st August 2025 to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support — a charity that means so much to both of us, our families, and our amazing team at Cosy Cafe.
⭐️ Macmillan Cancer Support
Our goal is to raise £1500 to support these incredible causes that mean so much to us and our families.
⸻
About the Challenge:
We are taking on the legendary National 3 Peaks Challenge — climbing the three highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales, all within an intense 24 hour window:
Ben Nevis (1,345m)
Scafell Pike (978m)
Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa (1,085m)
This is one of the hardest mountain endurance events in the UK — and we’ve never climbed Scafell Pike or Snowdon before… so we’ll be heading into this challenge with grit, determination, and plenty of caffeine!
The clock starts the second we set foot on Ben Nevis — and doesn’t stop until we’re back down from Snowdon — meaning we’ll have to:
⛰️ Hike Ben Nevis (5–6 hours)
Drive 6–7 hours through the night to the Lake District
⛰️ Climb Scafell Pike (4–5 hours, partly in darkness)
Drive 4–5 hours to Wales
⛰️ Summit Snowdon (4–5 hours) — all against the clock!
In total:
Over 3,000 metres of climbing
Over 23 miles on foot
500+ miles driving with barely any rest
Sleep deprivation, tough weather, and brutal time pressure
There’s no margin for error — if we fall behind on one mountain or during the drives, the 24 hour goal will slip away. This is a true test of endurance — and we can’t wait (nervously!) to take it on.

Why we’re doing it:
For Chris: Macmillan is a charity very close to my heart, after my mum was diagnosed with HER2 positive metastatic breast cancer in 2020 and in memory of my gran who sadly lost her battle with cancer in 2017. Macmillan do incredible work supporting people and families through their toughest times, and I want to give something back for the help they continue to give us.
For Martin: I’ve seen first-hand how vital Macmillan’s work is, not just for those with cancer but for the families and loved ones supporting them. Taking on this challenge with Chris for such an important cause is a no-brainer.
And as Mhairi (our boss at Cosy Cafe) puts it:
"The whole team at Cosy Cafe is behind Chris & Martin all the way ❤️ such an amazing cause — Macmillan were there for my mum during her breast cancer too, so it’s very close to my heart ❤️❤️❤️”
⸻
Also a huge thanks to my uncle David Gibson for being our driver for the challenge, and to Tell Design & Print for all the flyers and forms. Couldn’t do it without you both
