Costa Rica project in Golfo Dulce

Dear Friends,

My name is Mark Smith, and I am reaching out to you all for help in completing a project that has been a lifelong dream of mine. For the past six years, I have been building a beautiful house in Costa Rica. My goal is to create a space where like minded people can come together and enjoy the natural beauty of this stunning part of the world. There will be spaces open for treatment rooms, yoga, artists studios, writers retreats and much more. A creative hive! 

The house has 10 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 21 people. I have sourced all of the materials locally, using sustainable wood from managed forests. The house is built with a steel frame, to withstand any threat of earthquakes, and the walls are clad in cedarwood, with teakwood floors that repel water and termites.

I am now in the process of building the ceremonial firepit and need to complete two rooms and two bathrooms on the first floor. I am trying to raise £15,000 to help with this project. The money will be used to make the rooms jungle-proof, with netting and glass for the windows, secure the ceiling, install lighting and wiring, and build furniture, including beds and sitting areas. The two bathrooms will have a shower, basin, and toilet with tiling and waterproofing. I will also use the funds to preserve the wood by varnishing it.

The completion of these rooms and bathrooms will allow me to invite volunteers to help finish the project while providing them with safe accommodation. If more money is raised than the target, it will be put back into the house and not wasted.

I have always been driven to create healing spaces, and this project is no exception. I believe it will help many people now and in the years to come.

• As a small incentive, anyone who donates £100 or more will receive 10 days of free accommodation once the project is completed. If you donate £200, you will receive 20 days of free accommodation, and so on.(maximums 30 days per person)
