Hi, I’m Paige, a year 10 student at Joseph Rowntree School and I am raising money for a volunteering trip to Costa Rica in 2026.

Here’s some things I will be doing to support rural areas in Costa Rica:

Community Development: I will be involved in vital development projects to help improve infrastructure in the villages.

Environmental Projects: While having the opportunity to experience one of the world’s most biodiverse regions, I will be helping to improve the ecosystem and protect turtles and other wildlife in need.

I will be doing things like reforestation, bee hive construction, building bird boxes, creating artificial reefs and supporting primate conservation.

Project Work: I will be helping small communities and villages by improving education and health in the areas. I will also be doing a variety of different projects to help in wildlife conservation.

During my time in Costa Rica I will also receive a PADI open water scuba diving qualification meaning I’m able to scuba dive up to 18 meters deep anywhere in the world with a partner.

I am really excited for this opportunity to push myself out of my comfort zone and help other rural areas in need that may not be as lucky to have the same opportunities I do.
