Will you donate to help make the end to end trail a reality? Remember the movie Field of Dreams and “If you build it he will come”? The same is true for Rail Trails. In addition to being a safe and wonderful off-road place for everyone to walk, run, hike, bike and ski, they’re great for the local economy! People come to enjoy them, then stay to shop or dine nearby.

We’re raising money to benefit Corkscrew Rail Trail Association (a 501c3). Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution, it means so much to us. Funds are used for trail creation and maintenance, and to occasionally acquire sections of the trail.

The dream of this rail trail started over 10 years ago in Stephentown, NY. The founders were able to piece together sections from Knapp Road running south to the border of New Lebanon. They reached out to New Lebanon to get started on to southern sections. The request filtered down to the Recreation Commission and Joe Ogilvie started working to piece together the New Lebanon sections.

We’ve recently made big strides in securing easements on key sections, and are working on finalizing a permanent easement for the first section in Chatham, on the New Lebanon border. The dream is to link our trail to the Harlem Valley Rail Trail System, which should be connected to the Village of Chatham in late 2026. We also plan to start working on the northern sections with the goal of completing the trail all the way to Bennington, VT. The original line ran from Chatham to Bennington.
For reference, it has taken the Harlem Valley group about 40 years to connect their sections. We’re doing pretty well for 10 years of work!
