Corby’s Sponsored Bike Ride
0% complete
£4,655 raised of
294 donations
Our little boy Corby is 6 years old. He is a goalkeeper for Wombwell Town U8s and a die-hard Sheffield Wednesday fan; you may even have seen him in the Kop with his top off, cheering on the Massive.
Corby wears glasses with a very high prescription and cannot see properly without them. This fundraiser first started because he needed prescription sports goggles so he could carry on playing football safely.
Rather than asking Mummy and Daddy to pay, Corby wanted to raise the money himself. His challenge was to cycle 6.25 miles around Rother Valley Country Park.
Thanks to the kindness of so many people, Corby smashed his original £250 target in just a few hours. Then something amazing happened. Specsavers Mexborough kindly donated Corby’s prescription sports goggles, meaning the money raised could go even further.
Since then, this fundraiser has become much bigger than sports goggles.
As a huge Sheffield Wednesday fan, Corby said that anything raised above the cost of his goggles should go to “Tango’s little girl's charity” Lauren’s Legacy / #OneInEveryCorner, in memory of Lauren Walker.
Lauren’s Legacy and Red Sky Foundation, are helping to fund life-saving defibrillators at football grounds and sporting venues. The aim is to help make football safer for supporters, players, families and communities.
Corby has now completed his bike ride and we are making one final push before donations close on Sunday 28 June 2026 at 12pm.
Every donation, share and kind message has meant so much to Corby and to us as a family. What started as a little boy wanting to raise money for his own sports goggles has turned into something that could help save lives.
Please donate if you can, share the fundraiser, and help Corby finish this journey as strongly as he started it.
In Corby’s words:
“Thank you. We’re All Wednesday Aren’t We.”
