Running for Redemption: Honoring My Dad’s Memory Through the Copenhagen Marathon

On May 11, 2025, I will be running the Copenhagen Marathon alongside seven of my closest friends. But this isn’t just a race—it’s a journey of love, loss, and hope. We are running in honor of my Dad, who passed away on January 20, 2024, after a long and difficult battle with addiction.

Addiction is something that affects not just individuals but entire families. Watching my dad struggle was heartbreaking, but through it all, he never stopped fighting. One of the organizations that stood by him in his darkest moments was the Stauros Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting those battling addiction and their families. They offered him compassion, guidance, and faith when he needed it most. Now, I want to give back to them in his memory.

Running a marathon is no small feat, but compared to the fight my dad endured every day, it feels like a small tribute. With every mile, I will carry his memory, his struggles, and his strength with me. I will run for him, for others fighting addiction, and for the families who stand by their loved ones through it all.

This is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a way to honor my dad’s life and the incredible work of the Stauros Foundation. Every donation, big or small, will help provide vital support for those walking the same difficult path my Dad once did.
