Cool as Folk: Support Salt Spring Climate Action!

We are your neighbours, your co-workers, your friends. We are scientists, educators, and creative thinkers. For the past year our island has been participating in an epic climate study. We found out just where Salt Spring Island’s emissions are coming from, and identified the greatest opportunities for positive change .
Here’s the bad news: we now know that if we stay on the path we’re on today, by 2050 this island will reach a tipping point that will cripple our food systems, parch our forests, and hurt our local economy.
But! The good news is, we’ve also found out that if we invest now, we can dramatically lower emissions while creating better health & wellness and generating more sustainable livelihoods.
Starting January 1, 2021, an island-wide campaign launches. Transition’s ONE COOL ISLAND initiative will bring together every single group on the rock in a dynamic collaboration to build a resilient future, together. From electrifying vehicles and ferries to keeping forests healthy, the action plan is packed with tangible solutions that are audacious, but achievable.
