Planting Seeds for Athboy’s Future

Hi I'm Mairéad an Early Years Specialist and ECCE lead in Cookies ELC Athboy.

We are raising funds to help build a children’s vegetable garden at Cookies Early Learning Centre in Athboy. This garden will allow our preschool children to learn how food grows, care for nature, and experience the joy of planting, nurturing and harvesting together.

The project has already begun with support from generous local businesses who have donated materials, and now we are asking the wider community to help us grow it further.

If we are fortunate enough to raise more than we need for the garden, any surplus funds will go towards installing an additional Community Defibrillator in Athboy. At the moment there is only one defibrillator in the town, located at the hotel, and as our community continues to grow another one would be an incredibly valuable and potentially life-saving resource.

This part of the project is also very close to my heart, as my dad, John, a member of our community, sadly passed away from cardiac arrest a number of years ago. Providing another defibrillator would help honour his memory while helping protect others in Athboy.

Every donation, big or small, will help us grow something special for our children and our community.
