Cooked Meals for Frontline Healthcare Heroes-Nepal

Women for Human Rights, single women group (WHR- Chhahari), a National level NGO established in 1996 A.D has been working throughout to address this humanitarian response from the first lockdown situation with the food bank initiative serving the needy people in the community, running quarantine service within the country and returnee migrant workers and relief support.
We are grateful for all of you who contributed to our Food Bank initiatives during the first lockdown in March - June 2020.
The second wave of Covid-19 infection in Nepal has been devastating and it is much more serious and wide-spreading. We have experienced that the country’s medical infrastructure and services are exhausted. Thousands of frontline healthcare workers have currently been tied up around the clock braving exhausting schedules without the proper arrangement of daily meals. Many healthcare professionals like doctors, nurses, paramedics, ambulance drivers, and staff managing dead bodies of COVID patients are often devoid of nutritional food as a result of the government’s restriction on mobility. This has risked the health of the very individuals who are dedicated to helping the public out of the pandemic.
In a bid to at least alleviate such a difficulty being borne by the healthcare workers to some extent and the request received from Nepal Medical Association, WHR has started out the cooked hot meal to the health personnel (doctors, nurses, paramedics, ambulance drivers, and staff managing dead bodies of COVID patients) and COVID patients from the COVID wards of government hospitals.
During this difficult situation, we applaud the efforts and the selfless services extended by medical personnel in this dire situation. This is an act towards humanity to extend a gesture of gratitude to the people who are providing selfless service to others.
We appeal for any possible collaboration.
