Dear friends and family,

In the wake of recent hurricanes Beryl and Melissa;

Not even the resilient people of a nation such as Jamaica are prepared, to withstand or respond to the challenges now at hand, nor on the horizon. Climate change is upon us and Jamaica resides in “Hurricane Alley”.

In the spirit of helping those who help themselves, funds received through this Go Fund Me appeal, will be applied to start-up costs for an authentic made in Jamaica clothing company. A co-operative comprised of Jamaican Seamstresses and Tailors, which will make contributions to charity. More about that in a moment.

Your Go Fund Me contributions will also be used to fund establishing a legal 501(c) 3 charity, which will qualify future contributions as tax deductible, in accord with IRS tax codes. The charity’s mission will entail, educational assistance and disaster relief.

Our initial focus will be educational assistance. The educational component is in recognition of the reality, that most families tasked with recovery, will not be able to prioritize and meet financial obligations surrounding their children’s education. Whether preschool or college, at all levels Jamaican students are faced with paying for transportation, meals, books, uniforms and tuition/school fees.

As funding permits, the charity’s long term aspirations include assisting in construction of hurricane resistant starter homes (Block and cement), consisting of One Bathroom, Kitchen and a 20 x 15 Living Space, to which recipients can make additions over time.

Apart from public donations, the charity will also be the recipient of contributions from sales proceeds of the handmade clothing company, now being established. Your future patronage will be greatly appreciated.
