Continue John Simon's Legacy and support the next generation

Tax deductible
John Bryant Simon (1943–2025) was a community builder, writer, and basketball leader whose life’s work spanned continents and generations. From founding The DOME Project for at-risk youth in New York to working with Middle Eastern refugee youth displaced in Finland, John dedicated himself to helping others find strength, purpose, and belonging. He was a tireless advocate for justice, social equality, and youth empowerment, never seeking accolades, only impact.

John believed in the power of community and the potential in every person. Whether mentoring young athletes, writing acclaimed books, organizing neighborhood festivals, or launching education programs across the globe, he devoted his life to building a better, more compassionate world.

In his memory, we are raising funds to support Strycker's Bay and the West Side Commons, which reflect John’s values and vision: uplifting young people, fostering inclusion, and helping support the Upper West Side neighborhood he called home for nearly 15 years. Every contribution helps continue the work he so passionately championed.

John is survived by his wife Hannele, children Mikko and Elina, sister Patricia, their families, and hundreds of friends worldwide. His legacy lives on in the communities he built and the lives he changed.

Thank you for honoring John’s life and helping carry forward his mission to create a world where every person is seen, heard, and supported.
