Continue James's Love: Support for Jacob

The recent loss of our beloved father, James Vandal, to firefighter related cancer has shaken our family to its core. James Vandal was nothing short of an amazing man who loved the community in which he lived. Proudly serving the town of Little Compton as a career firefighter for 17 years and before that as a volunteer. The love he had for his family was unmatched, to his family, he was affectionately known as Pepe. Survived by his wife Susan and their children Jamie, Jacob, Jessica and her husband Sam. He had four grandchildren, Austin, Madison, Ava, and Charlee, and his many nieces and nephews he loved as his very own. James would tell his family “I don’t care who you are or what you do, as long as you’re a good human.”. The goal of our fundraiser is to help James’s family with support for his disabled son Jacob.

Jacob is the middle son of James and Susan, he is a bright, social, and energetic young man born with developmental disabilities, which requires additional supports and services. Up until the end of James’s battle, he and Susan were the primary caretakers of Jacob, leaving Susan with an overwhelming load and a challenging road ahead. With James’s passing, Jacob will face a significant change to his life as well as in his overall support system. James and Jacob did many things together in his day-to-day life that will be lost to him. These daily adventures with dad will have a dramatic impact on Jacob, whether they were going to Tractor Supply or on a vacation, they were inseparable in many ways. We are asking in lieu of flowers that donations be made in the memory of James Vandal in order for his family to continue the loving care and support for Jacob and any new challenges that may arise in regards to his support services.
