Construction of a Sustainable Community Hall in Borneo
Donation protected
Hi everyone
This August I have the incredible opportunity to collaborate with CAUKIN Studio and Friends of Nature, People, and Forests (FNPF) to design and construct a multi-purpose Aula (a traditional hall) in Central Kalimantan, Borneo! This space will serve as a hub for environmental education, workshops, and community gatherings in a place that has no access to government electricity or running water.
For 4 weeks I will be volunteering in a remote jungle near the Sekonyer River, Jerumbun constructing the community hub with eco-friendly materials, renewable energy design solutions and ensuring a low environmental impact. The project is supporting FNPF’s efforts in conservation and sustainable tourism.
Our team will work closely with the local community, exchanging skills and knowledge to create a structure that benefits both locals and visitors for years to come. Given the remote location and lack of available resources, the facility needs to be as self-sustainable as possible.
Your donation will go towards project fees, construction materials and local labour costs. I am funding all my own costs for the project.
Each participant has a minimum fundraising requirement of £650, but the more money we raise collaboratively, the more features and facilities we can provide the community of Kalimantan. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference in building a space that fosters education, sustainability, and community empowerment.
I know there are a lot of people and places that desperately need help at the moment, so I’m incredibly grateful for any contribution that can be made to this project.
