Hi. I'm Brendan. I want to create something awesome in the Tri-Cities and I need your help.

We have a remarkable and explosive art scene here, but local creatives lack a platform specifically built to help bring attention to their work. We have beautiful venues, a large metropolitan population, and extremely passionate community members, but lack a method of connecting everything up. That's where Consortium of Magpies comes in.

I'm starting a nonprofit dedicated to developing gallery shows, physical and digital publications, networking assistance, and business resources to help both independent artists and our community spaces thrive.

Consortium of Magpies is and will always be a zero-generative AI endeavor in all aspects of its work. Humans are the best artists!

For folks who don't know me, here's a bit of my background: professionally, I've been a front-end developer and graphic designer for nearly 30 years, but my primary strengths are in project management and team building. I'm a part of Tumbleweird's editorial team and have been since my spouse, Sara, took over as Editor-in-Chief back in 2018. I work directly with local school districts as a web app developer for Pasco, and have volunteered in Richland and Kennewick leading workshops and classes for students in topics ranging from web development to zine publishing. I've also spent the last ten years as the president of Tri-City Area Gaming, so running a collaborative, community building nonprofit isn't new to me. Consortium of Magpies feels like a natural extension of my experience.

Funds raised in this campaign will go toward registering the nonprofit and filing for 501(c)(3) status, producing the first issue of a high-quality quarterly art zine, and developing our first show slated for August in 2026. All money raised by this campaign will go directly into building the Consortium. All money raised in future endeavors will be equitably disbursed between ensuring the continuing success of the Consortium and compensating contributing artists.

If I get paid, I get paid last and least.
