The members of the American Adoption Congress have been respectfully requesting copies of the organizations documents for well over two years. These documents are required by Missouri statute to be readily available and provided to any member upon request within 5 business days. The member's requests have only been met with silence or incomplete documentation.
We are stepping forward to change that.
A lawsuit was filed against the AAC requesting documentation. Below you will find two links. One link is to the petition along with supporting documentation and one link is to the Missouri Courts.
The case number is 18CY-CV04448.
Missouri Court Cases
Lawsuit against the AAC and supporting documents
Within the petition you will find the following statement:
"Plaintiffs have reason to believe that the AAC Board of Directors is routinely violating its obligations and the requirements of the AAC bylaws and Missouri law in the election and termination of board members, in the election of officers, in the election of executive committee members, in the appointment of committee members and in the termination of active members of the organization. Additionally, Plaintiffs have reason to believe that the AAC Board of Directors is, at the least, mismanaging the organization’s funds, and at worst may be diverting funds and assets from the AAC."
The funds that you donate today will help to offset the cost of the legal team in place for the plantiffs. Please consider donating the cost of your yearly AAC membership, the equivalent of the cost of the annual conference or any amount that you are able to spare.
FOR MORE IN DEPTH EXPLANATION, PLEASE CONTINUE READING...........THE LAWSUIT EXPLAINS IT IN DETAIL.
The current executive board leadership has terminated multiple board members following their requests for financial information. They cloaked the removals under false accusations and regardless of the reasons for the terminations, NO FINANCIAL DOCUMENTATION was provided to the remaining board members.
Let us point out that if the courts decide that the plaintiff's complaints are founded, the judge has the authority to order the AAC to pay the legal costs incurred by the plaintiffs.
In the event that (1) there are excess GoFundMe donations, and/or (2) the court awards legal fees to the plaintiffs, contributors will have the option to receive reimbursement or donate such funds back to the AAC, pending satisfactory results of a fair election.
Hundreds of well respected past members, board members and experts in the adoption field have chosen to spend their membership dollars elsewhere due to the egregious lack of transparency.
Please help us to protect the estate funds that were trustingly provided to the American Adoption Congress for the long-term future of the organization. Please help us to reinstate the AAC to it's founding principles and mission and be a beacon of hope and light once again like it was for many of us years ago.
In humble gratitude,
Deborah Myers
