Outdoor covered training courts at HETSS

Established in 2012, Ongar Chasers Basketball Club, has developed and grown year on year. In 2016, only three years after its' establishment, it was named by Basketball Ireland as Irish Basketball Club of the year.

Today, Ongar Chasers' relationship with Basketball Ireland and both the DLBB and DMBB continue to grow thanks in no part to the strides our teams are making across a range of competitive leagues.

Our Ladies Division 1 team reached ultimate success in January 2025 winning the NICC Women's National Cup Final.

Located in the heart of Dublin 15, basketball plays a very significant role and has a hugely positive impact on the community population.

We currently have 525 members, over 100 volunteers and have representation from over 40 different nationalities.

Under the Government’s Sports Capital and Equipment

Programme, which supports the development of sports

facilities in Ireland, Ongar Chasers Basketball Club, in

partnership with Hansfield Educate Together Secondary

School, secured the maximum possible grant of

€150,000. This achievement was made possible with

the support of Jack Chambers, Minister for Public Expenditure and

Deputy Leader of Fianna Fáil.

This funding was awarded following a detailed submission

to create an innovative, sheltered, all-weather outdoor

training facility on the grounds of HETSS. The steel-framed

structure measuring 18 x 30 metres, while remaining an

outdoor structure, will be partially clad to protect it from

wind and rain. The surface will be upgraded to an all-

weather tiled system and lighting will be installed within the roof frame.

The total cost of the project is €380,000. After grant funding of €150,000, a total of €230,000 is required from our resources. We have almost reached our target and now need your help to raise the final funds needed to complete.
