Jubilee House Community is launching a new mini-initiative in an effort to serve our unhoused neighbors in the face of ongoing criminalization of poverty in Walker County!
The C.A.R.T. Movement (Compassionate Aid & Relief Totes) will work to provide portable, foldable wagon totes filled with essential supplies to our unhoused neighbors in Walker County as an act of compassion, offering care, dignity, and freedom of mobility in the face of laws that criminalize survival. We believe that compassion should move freely, just like the carts that carry these resources!
This project has arisen from the news that local municipalities are seeking top criminalize the use of shopping carts by our unhoused neighbors, leading to more harm to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
Our goal is to start with 25 of these carts! We think we can make these CARTs up for around $100-125!
ALL money donated will go to purchasing the foldable cart/wagon and the following materials:
ESSENTIALS
- Reusable water bottles & hydration packs
- Non-perishable food
- Hygiene kits
- First aid kits
COMFORT / SURVIVAL
- Blanket / sleeping pad
- Poncho or compact umbrella
- Warm socks, gloves, and hats
- Small pillow or inflatable cushion
SAFTEY / PRACTICAL
- Flashlight (solar or crank-powered preferred)
- Portable phone charger (solar or battery pack)
- Whistle for safety
- Reusable shopping bags
