If you are a dancer, musician or live music fan in Tucson you may have heard and been moved by the skillful drumming and bright smile of drummer, Lassina Doumbya! Two years ago Lassina traveled from Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa to Tucson, Arizona. He has blessed this Tucson community with amazing music and incredible energy at performances and classes ever since! As he plays djembe or congas, he shares his pure joy to be playing music. He is truly a dear and beautiful human being, as well as an incredible drummer!
Over the last several months Lassina has been working on filing for asylum, The asylum process is arduous and ongoing, it can take up to a year and a half. All of us who experience his heart and joy through his music and through knowing him, believe his presence here in this country and in our community is a blessing.
Lassina, his lawyer, and those that support with translation and all the steps that need to be taken, are working on getting final paper work completed and submitted by December 13th. That is the date that the final paperwork and at least half of the application fee and expenses need to be in. We are working to raise money to cover the application process and fees, along with a balance owed to his lawyer, who has gratefully been willing to take payments.
Whether you can contribute funds, share the campaign or simply hold Lassina in your heart, all of it is energy and love, and so very much appreciated!
Peace, love and gratitude ~
