PLEASE SUPPORT THE McCORMACK FAMILY
As a football community, we were shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Amanda McCormack, aged 52, in April 2021.
Amanda was the proud, funny and passionate sports mum of 20-year-old Molly (Lower Plenty Football and Netball Club Women’s Captain), 17-year-old Evan (passionate cricketer at Research Eltham Collegians Cricket Club) and Jake (player in the U14s Research Junior Football Club), and the loving partner of Anthony (Macca) our weekly goal umpire, supportive dad, committee member and wicket keeper with Research Eltham Collegians Cricket Club.
Amanda was my team manager in 2019 for the under 18 girls at the Research Junior Football Club and our boys played juniors together. The McCormack family are wonderful contributors to the local community: they umpire, team manage, compete with passion, and really love being part of the Lower Plenty Football Club, the Research Junior Football & Netball Club, and the Research Eltham Collegians Cricket Club.
This year has been tough on so many families but imagine losing your mum (or wife), the whole centre of your universe, at such a young age. The family cricket business, Maddocks Sports, has been heavily affected by changing COVID restrictions, placing additional financial strain on the family.
Amanda’s funeral was held the week before the beginning of the 2021 Lower Plenty Bears Women’s season. The Lower Plenty Football and Netball Club (LPFNC) was planning on running numerous fundraisers to support the McCormack family, but COVID has made it extremely difficult for us to organise any events to date.
So, let us band together to give this family the support they deserve from our community. Please give so we can reach our fundraising goal: to help them pay the bills, put food on the table and show them some love from their wider community.
Nothing will bring back their loved one, but your generosity will provide enormous support.
