Community Street Library fundraiser

Hi, My name is Kaylee and I’m the owner of The Bookworm’s Local Street Library in Mount Gravatt East, Brisbane.

This street library is special because (1) It’s run more like a normal library where people borrow and return books rather than take them; (2) It’s a huge street library with approx 800 books across 9 cabinets in the front yard at any given time; and (3) We try to mainly stock recent publications.

This means that all soft cover books are covered in plastic contact to keep them in good condition (they are covered by me or volunteer book coverers) but the contact costs a lot of money, and our cabinets that sit outside 24/7/365 need regular repainting and repair - another expense.

We recently celebrated our 8th year of operation but our very first original cabinet (that has been outside for 7.5

years and been repainted more time than I have fingers to count!) died its final death in the storms this week so funds are needed to replace it.

All money raised will go directly towards the upkeep of our fabulous library
