WHO WE ARE
Unity of Charlottesville is a culturally Christian spiritual center that celebrates the wisdom found in all faith traditions. In this time of pandemic, centuries-old religious intolerance, and the stresses and strains of life, we're in the process of creating a Community Meditation Garden for use by anyone seeking a space for contemplation, meditation, reflection, or quiet time in nature. This will be a beautiful, peaceful, garden space open to the public where our commonalities are celebrated and our distinctions appreciated.
In Phases one through three, we've successfully completed a labyrinth which is a full-scale replica of the labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral in France. In Phase 2, we've installed a standing meditation space devoted to Taoism, the first of many spiritual traditions that we will honor and celebrate in separate quiet spaces. In Phase 3, we've built a Japanese bridge connecting a pathway between the two meditation spaces.
SERVING OUR COMMUNITY
Unity is a spiritual growth center dedicated to empowering people to connect with the deeper values of their own inner nature. We are uniquely positioned to create a public space where people of all faith traditions can find solace and peace in a meditation garden. As our name implies, we are known within the community as a place to bring people together. Unity currently partners with such organizations as the Charlottesville Clergy Collective, Alliance for Interfaith Ministries (AIM), the Tibetan Parents Association, and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).
Our goal for Phase 4 of this project is to make the Community Meditation Garden visible to the community and more easily accessible to visitors. The ramp, built at an ADA accessible slope, will make it clear to visitors how to access the garden. Posted hours will invite visitors to enjoy the gardens every day during daylight hours. The campus is centrally located, has ample lit parking and is easily accessible from Hydraulic Rd.
We're asking for your financial support for Phase 4 to reach our goal of $10,000 and we are most grateful for donations of any size. Thank you.
