Assemble Community Kits for Struggling New Yorkers

Community Kits has a simple mission: to spread joy & kindness by doing a small part alongside a growing community of people who want to do a little bit of good.

On Saturday, October 5th we will be hosting another Community Kits event at Black Crescent, 1:00-4:00pm.

This time, with the support of Meaghan & Michael, I'm hoping to gather more friends and family on my birthday to experience the magic together and help everyone do their little bit of good.

A bit more background;

Meaghan Cohen and Michael Filson first introduced me to Community Kits during a Friendsgiving gathering where, each Thanksgiving, guests build bags of essential hygiene and food items. Everyone would then journey to hand out the kits directly to the unhoused community in nearby neighborhoods.

Last year the Friendsgiving group assembled 200 kits and donated them to the Bowery Mission.

In May of this year, Meaghan & Michael coordinated another gathering to assemble community kits, but this time they kicked off the first-ever Community Kits event at Black Crescent. The show-out was awe-inspiring, in 1 hour guests assembled 400 kits that were then donated through the Coalition for the Homeless .

These kits were distributed via their Grand Central Food Program. The GCFP is the largest mobile soup kitchen in America, serving between 800 - 1,200 people a day from New York's unhoused community.

I fell in love with the intention and energy behind these events, during the events, and after the events. It is something magical to meet & bond with others who take time from their busy lives to give back.

I invite you to support this project by donating funds for kit supplies and join us in-person us on Saturday, October 5th to assemble the kits. 100% of proceeds will go towards the costs of the kits, which will include hygiene and food essentials. If we raise $1,000, I will match that $1,000 in donations so we can assemble 300 total kits.
