Community Fundraiser for Employees of Pescadores

Our small community took a hit yesterday, it was a sad morning when we woke to hear the news and even more sad when we walked down to the beach to see the results of the fire that raged through many peoples livelihoods.

The idea of this fundraiser is to raise money to help the employees of each restaurant who had their job taken from them yesterday.

Each restaurant had at least 5-10 employees and until there are plans to re-build these people will need help to feed themselves and their families.

We have been in contact with Lindo and they are happy to help organize the food bags for each employee. Later this week there will be boxes at Lindo to donate cash directly if you are in Las Terrenas, if not you can donate here.

All funds raised will go direct to Sandra at Lindo for the food and packing of purchases. Each employee (provided we raise enough) will be able to go to Lindo each week and shop or take a bag. (This depends on how Sandra and I discuss is best way to coordinate)

I have started collecting the numbers and names of employees who work at each restaurant and will start a whatsapp group with them all to coordinate pick up of food once a week when the donations start to arrive. This initiative will go for a month long or until funds run out.

Nuestra pequeña comunidad recibió un golpe ayer, fue una mañana triste cuando nos despertamos para escuchar la noticia y aún más triste cuando caminamos hacia la playa para ver los resultados del incendio que arrasó con los medios de vida de muchas personas.




 La idea de esta recaudación de fondos es recaudar dinero para ayudar a los empleados de cada restaurante a los que les quitaron el trabajo ayer.




 Cada restaurante tenía al menos 5-10 empleados y hasta que haya planes para reconstruir, estas personas necesitarán ayuda para alimentarse a sí mismos y a sus familias.




 Hemos estado en contacto con Lindo y están felices de ayudar a organizar las bolsas de comida para cada empleado.  A finales de esta semana habrá cajas en Lindo para donar dinero en efectivo directamente si estás en Las Terrenas, si no, puedes donar aquí.




 Todos los fondos recaudados irán directamente a Sandra at Lindo para la comida y el empaque de las compras.  Cada empleado (siempre que criemos lo suficiente) podrá ir a Lindo cada semana y comprar o llevarse una bolsa.  (Esto depende de cómo Sandra y yo discutamos es la mejor manera de coordinarnos)




 Comencé a recopilar los números y nombres de los empleados que trabajan en cada restaurante y comenzaré un grupo de whatsapp con todos ellos para coordinar la recolección de alimentos una vez a la semana cuando comiencen a llegar las donaciones.  Esta iniciativa durará un mes o hasta que se agoten los fondos.
