July 18, 2024 marks 4 years since the launch of Community Fridges Toronto (CFTO).

In a city where the cost to live continues to increase, the necessity for us to care for one another also continues to increase.

With the fridges, our hope has always been to instill the principle that everyone deserves food and with no barrier to access, meaning more of our neighbors are able to eat well!

At CFTO, we believe in the power of collective action. We have a goal to fundraise $4,444.44. These funds will be used to maintain fridges, build sheds, and to purchase food for our fridges across the city. We're asking community members to donate $5 (or whatever you wish) to celebrate our anniversary and keep our fridge network thriving.

CFTO is a volunteer-driven, Toronto-based community initiative. We are a network of volunteers, small business owners, and community builders mobilizing to provide mutual aid hubs, where community members can support others directly without intervention and outside of traditional models. Mutual aid creates networks of care and generosity to meet the immediate needs of our neighbors. It also addresses the root causes of challenges we face and demands transformative change. CFTO is not a charity nor a not-for-profit, and to date has operated completely on generous in-kind contributions from the community. We operate solely through the communities we are a part of.
