Hi Everyone!
I'm volunteering with Our Food NYC, which works to distribute food and support for the grassroots network of community fridges that combat food insecurity by providing free, accessible, healthy food throughout New York City.
Community members across the city began organizing these fridges on a volunteer basis as support systems in response to the economic strain put on families across the city from the pandemic, and to food insecurity and injustice more generally.
This holiday season, Our Food NYC is fundraising to support the fridge network in preparing for the winter weather like snow through 'winterization.' Fridge volunteers are building small structures around the fridges to support their upkeep and safety from winter weather.
Please donate to support the sustainability of the fridges throughout the winter, as the need for these vital food resources for community members is only increasing as the pandemic continues.
