Help Curtin Students with fundraising for our Mongolia community development project in Tunkhel!!!
Curtin University students have been invited by the Vice Governor of Tunkhel, Mongolia, on an international practicum program to repair or fix some public areas of the region of Selenge Provice, Mandal Sum, together with the cooperation of the Tunkhel Sustainable Development Centre NGO which operates sustainable projects in the region.
The team of 14 students and 3 teachers will be assigned to three project areas including the village's train station, a public park, kindergarden, and recycling program. Please find the following descriptions from each team on the assigned project areas.
Train Station Team: The project aims fund raise $1,000 to improve signage, public art and wayfinding in and around Tunkhel station regarding tourism and local amenities within the town. Through this we hope to improve the accessibility of the town for the people that visit it, as the train station is the key and main access point for visitors and residents when travelling from the capital city, Ulaanbaatar.
-Team members include; Ella Wintle, Max French, Adam Spear, Megan Arney, Paul Rousell
Public Park Team: Our goal for this project is to raise $5,000 to create a recreational area which will focus on a half basketball court and other amenities. The teenage Mongolians in the town have very little to do so this will work towards revitalising the unused land and will provide the town people with physical recreation opportunities. We will work to create an area where teenagers can socially mix with one another. Our goal is to create a thriving community hub for the young people of Tunkhel.
-Team members include; Mason Grosse, Daniel Iversen, Max Collett, William Vardanega, Elliot Robinson
Kindergarden Team: The idea is to raise $1,000 to improve the educational facilities for isolated communities in Mongolia. Specifically, for the kids from the nearby villages who go to the school by providing educational entertainment, some of the activities that will be developed from the volunteer-students are as below:
• Educational Equipment
• Improving infrastructure
• Provide educational entertainment
• Create a mural on one of the walls
• Educational board games or other activities.
• Design the recycling bins
-Team members include; Claudia Buenhombre Molina, Elizabeth Collins, Ziagul Sultani, Nisha Oza
All money raised will go to the project areas and the people/community of Tunkhel.
The students are self-funding their costs to travel to Mongolia and dedicating their time and efforts during semester break to volunteer and to improve the community.
Thank you for your support,
