In honour of turning 40 next month, rather than fundraising for a charity via Facebook, I have decided to collect contributions for the Community Cupboard.
The Cupboard has been in operation since the day school closures were announced in March 2020. We saw a need to make sure our neighbours who rely on nutrition programs in school were taken care of and we set out to fill the service gap right away. Of course, at that time we didn't realize how much people would come to depend on the Cupboard as time went on.
In our 11 months of operation, we have put out more than 300 cans, 1000 juiceboxes, and 3000 snacks. We expanded to include full Thanksgiving/Christmas meal boxes as holidays arose.
We will keep operating the cupboard as long as the CoVidCrisis continues.
