Hi,
My name is Jess, and I am a student at Sir William Stanier School in Crewe. My school has given me an amazing opportunity to go on a Camps International expedition to Cambodia in July/August 2026. Camps international is changing lives all over the world in taking and supporting people like me to carry out vital project work in countries less fortunate than ours.
This incredible opportunity isn’t just about exploring a different country it is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of the local communities and the wildlife of Cambodia and for people that know me this is very close to my heart. The aim will be to work with the local communities to improve living standards in an ecologically and sustainable way which I will be doing by helping to build and upgrade facilities in those communities and preserving the rich wildlife.
Cambodia remains one of the poorest countries in the world, seasonal food shortages and lack of employment opportunities leave rural people vulnerable to continued and increased poverty. I will be involved in important projects such as constructing water storage pots, improving infrastructure at the local school and refurbishing community buildings. I will get stuck into some environmental focused project work. This could include reforestation using saplings and planting crops for the community that are both sustainable and provide an income to the local people.
By taking part in this once in a lifetime trip I will be taking on new challenges that will help me grow in confidence and develop life skills such as leadership, teamwork, resilience, decision-making and cultural sensitivity. I will enjoy life changing experiences like learning about the local culture of Cambodia, helping the local children and communities and have the opportunity to visit the world-famous Angkor Wat temples, S21 Prison and Killing Fields and take on the challenge of an adventurous trek through the jungle.
This opportunity is going to cost £4770, and I will be fundraising as much as I can to cover the cost. I will be saving money from my birthday as well as completing odd jobs for family and friends. I will be taking on a sponsored walk with my family, help organising dinner parties, car washes, charity evening with the help of friends and family and other fund-raising activities during the 18 months and I will update this page every step of the way.
Your donation would be an investment in positive change, help communities, safeguard wildlife and help and preserve conservation.
Please support me in this wonderful opportunity and together we can make a difference.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this.
