Growing up, I saw firsthand how hard it was for my family to keep our home. My dad worked long hours, coming home every day covered in dirt and metal dust, but he always managed a smile for us. We lived in a small, broken-down trailer before he was finally able to get a bank loan for a new house. But even then, the fear of losing our home never went away. Every week, I overheard my parents worrying about the mortgage payment and how close we were to losing everything. It broke my heart to see my dad work so hard, only to face the possibility that his home might one day belong to the bank instead of his children.
