Support for Dagger
We are raising funds to support Dagger as he navigates the devastating loss of his life partner, creative collaborator, and best friend, Láwû (Mango) Makuriye’nte. For six years they traveled the world together, transmuting rage and grief through their experimental noise performance project, Mirrored Fatality.
Láwû's sudden loss has led to Dagger canceling tours and losing the work they were doing through Mirrored Fatality, as they are plunged into handling the aftermath which includes managing logistics of multiple memorials, being the lead contact with family, all while grieving. We are raising funds to ease the financial burdens so they have the mental space to grieve. Funds will go to food, housing, transportation expenses, and body care work (massages, acupuncture, etc.) for the year. Ultimately, they need a support system through their healing process of recovering from this enormous loss.
Beyond a performance artist, Dagger is a deeply generous friend and natural community organizer. They are quick to support their friends and communities in need through benefit shows, volunteering their time and skills to make sure everyone is taken care of. It is our turn to ensure Dagger's rest as they move through this loss.
Dagger is also looking for quiet housing and studio space options, preferably in LA and accessible through public transportation. Please review the housing and support spreadsheets below to add any leads and offers:
We love you Dagger. So many of us have been on the receiving end of your endless love, care, and attention, and we hope to return it tenfold during a deeply painful time.
If you are able, please contribute and share this with others who know and love Dagger. Every bit of support helps.
With love and gratitude,
