Community Aid for Abused Twin Brothers

Hello, my name is Susan Becker. You may have seen a story in the news recently about the teenage boy who was allegedly forced by his mom and stepdad (Tracy and Josh Dechant) to stand naked and barefoot outside in single-digit weather as a punishment. The boy went to his neighbor's home for help, which prompted an investigation because he weighed between 53-55 pounds at age fifteen. (The average weight for a 15 year old boy is around 140 pounds). It was then determined that his twin brother has also been enduring multiple counts of abuse, including starvation and being made to sleep naked on the floor. The parents ostracized the kids from family members, and they were home schooled. So they had little interaction with other people, which is why it is assumed that the abuse continued without anyone being aware.

I am starting this GoFundMe for them because I have had multiple people reach out to ask me. My husband and I know this family and spent a lot of time with them 3 years ago, and we even invited them on a short vacation with us. We began to keep our distance with them after a couple of strange instances with the parents, and so we haven't seen them in 2 years or more. The kids were always polite, pleasant and fun to be around.

I love these kids, all SIX of them.

Their parents have been charged and are awaiting a trial, so right now there are family members taking care of them. I couldn't think of a way to help them, so this is how I am going to try to help. I wanted to see if there would be people in the community willing to help them so they have the essentials like a roof over their heads, and of course lots of food!

The cover photo is a frog they found a few summers ago. They loved this frog and named him "Sticky." I used this photo to protect their privacy, but also because it was a good memory for them to remember. Thank you for any help you can provide.
