***Charlie’s Story***
On the 25th of November, 2024, Charlie began experiencing excruciating headaches that lasted five days.
After an appointment with his GP on the 29th of November, Charlie was prescribed medication to ease the headaches. Two days later, the headaches persisted , his wife Tania took him to Logan Hospital and was later transferred to The PA Hospital, where he was required to have an MRI scan. To the family’s shock, the scans showed that he had a massive tumour on his brain which required emergency surgery.
On Monday, the 2nd of December, Charlie underwent surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible, however, the biopsy revealed the heartbreaking news that Charlie has Stage 4 Glioblastoma tumour (Brain Cancer).
Stage 4 Glioblastoma tumour is aggressive and spreads rapidly. The only option to stop the tumour from further growth requires undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. This disease is known to be worse than the treatment itself and will affect his everyday tasks and functionality.
We are all shocked and saddened by this sudden news, especially Tania, his wife of nearly 36 years and his four beautiful kids, Kyle, Maddie and twins, Aleesha and Blake and three month old Amani, his first grandchild and is expecting his second grandchild in May 2025. Our aim is to rally support for Charlie and his family and to help ease ongoing expenses.
Charlie is someone who is always there for others. He is extremely hard working and is the first to offer a helping hand. Charlie is also the kind of person who brings joy and laughter wherever he goes, always happy and jovial.
Never in a million years would we have imagined Charlie would be someone directly affected by cancer. It just shows how vulnerable we all are and no one is immune. Life is precious and everyday counts. Our wish is to help this beautiful, loving family spend quality time with each other without the burden of financial stress. Your donation, no matter small or big, will go directly towards household costs, hospital parking, fuel, medications and no doubt more.
Please, if you can, donate, share this page, and help us in this fight for Charlie’s life.
We will be so grateful for your generosity and support
