My dad, Jesus Ramirez, was involved in a serious car accident this morning around 8 a.m. while driving his company vehicle for work. A woman ran a red light at high speed and struck him completely totaling the car. In that moment, my dad said his entire life flashed before him like a short film. His wife, children and grandchildren all came to mind!

By the grace of God he is still here with us but he is now facing physical and emotional pain that will take time to heal. He has a fracture, internal bleeding, and other injuries that we are continuing to learn more about as the time goes on. Because of this he will not be able to return to work for some time.

Anyone who knows my dad knows he is not someone who complains. He is humble, deeply hardworking, and consistently goes above and beyond..not just for our family, but in his work, for his coworkers, and for anyone he crosses paths with who may need help.

Beyond his full time job where he regularly puts in extra overtime, he also does side work to make sure his family is taken care of. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to do any of that while he recovers.

Recently he fulfilled a lifelong promise to my mom by buying her a home, a huge milestone and a piece of the American dream that he worked tirelessly for and truly deserved. Now, life has changed in an instant.

Creating this fundraiser was not something my dad wanted. Asking for help is not in his nature. But I know how many people love and respect him and I believe he deserves support during this difficult time while his body heals and he focuses on recovery without the added stress of finances.

This has been a powerful reminder of how quickly life can change. I talk to my dad often, almost every day, and the night before this accident I didn’t… something that now stays with me. It’s a quiet reminder to never assume there will be more time.

I am incredibly grateful to God for protecting my dad and allowing us to still have him here with us. We trust that God’s hand is over his life and over our family as he begins this healing journey.
