COMBATATHON

Following the success of last year’s Aquathon, which raised over £10,000 for two charities, October 4th will see Loughborough Leisure Centre and More Leisure host a 3 hour long COMBATATHON.

Eighty people associated with the three Charnwood Leisure Centres (Loughborough, South Charnwood and Soar Valley) will be involved in the fundraising event and take part in a strenuous but fun workout session to raise money for two charities.

Marie Curie, is the UK’s leading end of life charity providing free expert nursing, hospice care and emotional support for anyone living with a terminal illness. The charity operates nationwide, both in-home and in its 9 hospices, and runs a free support line for anyone dealing with bereavement and dying.

Different Strokes, is a UK based charity who help working-age stroke survivors and their families reclaim their lives and maintain independence through active peer support, rehabilitation services and community connection. 100% of the money raised will be split between these two essential charities.

Local and popular combat instructors Pete and Kim, who offer regular classes at the centres, will be facilitating the COMBATATHON, which has been organised by them and a small group of class enthusiasts, Jo Sanders, Jane Hannah and Charlotte Bishop, ably assisted by other volunteers.

They are all giving their time to plan and arrange the logistics of putting on such an ambitious event, enable the day to run smoothly, provide refreshments and ensure that a fun day is had by all!
