Help Me Fight for Colton's Safety and Well-being
It breaks my heart to share this, but I need your support. Halfway through 2023, my ex took my son, Colton, and I’ve been in a relentless court battle to see him since. During this time, I started the legal process to obtain custody rights. On January 15th, 2024, I finally reunited with Colton, only to find him with a black eye and covered in bruises.
The moment I saw him, I knew something was terribly wrong. Colton was in pain and crying incessantly, so I rushed him to the ER. There, we discovered that his arm was broken. I insisted on a full range of tests – CT scans, X-rays, everything – to ensure his safety. The doctors informed me that his arm had been broken for two weeks and the bruises were from various times, indicating ongoing abuse.
The Department of Child Safety (DCS) and the police were notified. DCS confirmed they found evidence of domestic abuse and neglect against my ex. My ex and her new boyfriend claimed Colton’s injuries were from accidents like falling off the bed and slipping in the tub. Her boyfriend refuses to cooperate with the investigation, and my ex argues she shouldn’t be held responsible as she wasn’t present during the incidents.
I left the hospital and went to the courts, where I was granted 100% custody through an emergency order of protection. This order was upheld the following week, and Colton has been with me since. My ex has since appealed the order of protection.
Between January and now, DCS has finalized their investigation, finding that both my ex and her boyfriend were responsible for abuse and neglect towards Colton. These records and findings have been presented to the local police to assist in their ongoing criminal investigation.
The costs from Family Court, Colton’s medical bills, and now the appeals process have left me in a difficult financial situation. I am asking for your help to cover the mounting legal and medical expenses in this fight for my son’s safety. Any support you can offer – whether through donations or sharing our story – would mean the world to us. I love Colton more than anything, and I’m determined to ensure he never has to suffer like this again.
Thank you for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time.
