Collin and Sydney's Much Needed Relief Fund

Hi, my name is Kristen Curley. I am reaching out to you on behalf of my nephew Collin Kush ( Sahnow) and his fiance, Sydney Boyer. Recent and very unexpected health issues have turned their world upside down, and they need our help.

Sydney is a survivor of a long struggle with bone cancer she had as a child. She came out of that difficult time, cancer free, strong and beautiful! With all of the chemo and treatments she went through, she never imagined she'd be able to have a child. But, a few years after Syd and Collin were together, they found out they were pregnant. Baby Nella came into their lives, and they started the journey of parenthood with excitement. Nella is now a sweet, healthy, nine month old. Syd has been a stay at home momma, while Collin has been working towards becoming a journeyman electrician. He just finished the hours required, and was eager to test. But, things went in a different direction.

Sadly, in the last few months, Sydney's health began deteriorating. The cause of her pain and symptoms has been hard for the doctors to diagnose. Six weeks ago Collin took Syd to the hospital. She had excruciating pain in her legs and feet,unexplained bruising, low platelets and exhaustion. Syd spent the next five weeks in the hospital. Collin missed those five weeks of work to care for little Nella and be with Sydney. The doctors are not certain of a full diagnosis. But Syd is suffering from neuropathy and they are close to narrowing down an autoimmune disease, among other health issues. Doctors fear some of the nerve damage is permanent. She will have to go back to the hospital soon, for four days for an immune globulin treatment.

Sydney has a long road ahead of her. Her mother took leave from work to care for Syd and the baby until Collin gets home from work each day. Syd has a weekly visit from her physical therapist and a nurse visits three times a week. They are hoping to find childcare for Nella, as it will be a long time before Syd will be able to care for her.

After Collin missed so much work, they are months behind in rent and unpaid bills. The cost of childcare is far more than they can currently afford. The financial strain is taking a toll on this young family. If you are able to help, it would be so appreciated.
